I’m just a queer (she/they) person on a profound journey of continuous self-discovery and evolution. From a young age, I felt different from others.
It took numerous struggles, including moments of despair, panic attacks, and even suicidality for me to delve deeper into understanding what was truly happening within me.
When I finally came out, although it felt amazing to finally put words to what I was going through, it opened up a plethora of other stressors.
I was raised in the south. What does that mean for my safety? I was raised Catholic. What does that mean for being a part of the church? How do I tell my family? My friends? Will they accept me?
These questions among many others created shame for me as I quickly realized that I was not the dominant narrative, and I had nowhere to turn. I felt alone and isolated as a result.
Years of therapy and a reliance on antidepressant medications reached a tipping point. I was only hiding behind my truth, and I craved a different approach. I yearned to not just feel my emotions but to comprehend their significance, to collaborate with them rather than resist. I remember after multiple failed suicide attempts, I finally said to myself, “Instead of finding ways to kill yourself, why don’t you figure out how to live?”
This sparked a transformative quest through various natural healing modalities, spiritual practices, and holistic wellness methods that lead me to rebuild my confidence and ultimately lead to my place of peace.
I quickly learned that I had a clear canvas to create my life the way I wanted it to look, and for over 15 years, I’ve done just that.
Before becoming a coach, I dedicated myself and my career to making a difference in a number of helping professions by counseling, training, and offering education in comprehensive sexual health, sexual violence prevention, HIV support initiatives, and LGBTQ+ cultural humility to Pre-K-12 students, diverse learners, teachers, social workers, case managers, nurses, and other health care professionals.
Amidst these experiences, my own journey of self-exploration and healing unfolded, resulting in profound change, but it also allowed me to be present and a direct support system for my 5 nieces, nephews, and niblings who also came out later as LGBTQ (literally each of the letters listed)!
Through dedication and practice, I've embarked on a journey toward embracing the innate beauty of being my authentic self. I've unearthed ways to not just cope in a world that often does not accept people like me, but to thrive in a world that I’ve created for myself and my wellbeing, and that started within.
Now, armed with my experiences and insights from both personal and professional realms, I'm impassioned about sharing my journey and learnings with others, so you too can rise up and be your full authentic self.
My mission is to empower the LGBTQIAPP+ community to live authentically, to embrace their uniqueness, and to discover their path toward their best, most fulfilling lives.
